This has been bugging me for a while.Santa Rosa PD is using the same Frequency of 460.37500 with the same PL tone of 127.3
When I scan CHP it often picks up Santa Rosa. So tonight I went through the Database to compare Tones.

460.37500 465.37500 KMA351 MRF 127.3 PL 1 Dispatch FM Law Dispatch Santa Rosa
460.37500 465.37500 127.3 PL CH-5 Border/Inland Division FM
460.37500 465.37500 KYK296 BMRF 127.3 PL State Building Security FM Law Dispatch

Santa Rosa is right, I'm not sure of the other ones, anyone monitor the other 2 and from where and can you confirm the PL used.
You folks from the Sacramento area, how far out can you hear State Building Security ?

Thank you

I've monitored CHP Captiol Div 460.375 PL127.3 quite a bit. Their jurisdiction is mostly centered around the downtown Sacramento area, but they do have assignments and patrol jurisdiction in outlying areas.

Depending on the antenna used, a good exterior mobile one will grab the freq an easy 30+ miles away from downtown Sac. More/less depending where you're located. However, with a good antenna I can't recall ever getting Santa Rosa on the same freq and PL. I'm sure the Napa Blue Ridge Mtns create a nice barrier.

I routinely monitor "CHP" on this frequency from about 30 miles away. However, I have picked them up when mobile from such places as Jackson (about 50 miles direct distance).

Since I started listening to this one, it's been kind of cool, because you never know who you'll get. At least in L.A. anyway. There was a DMV Investigator running somebody the other day, and LAPD air working on a Lo-Jack with CHP one night.

In Los Angeles its used as an access channel for other agencies. Most radios label it CHP-D (LAPD etc)

It is pretty active here and repeated.

Its also been annoying me. I have been trying to listen to Santa Rosa police on my Motorola MT-2000, and I keep hearing another agency. So who is it?

If you can pick up a location or callsign it should help narrow it down pretty quickly.

Besides Santa Rosa, in your general area 460.375 is also licensed to Contra Costa County (KQY684 & WPXN511) and the cities of Pittsburg (KMA779 & KM6564) and El Cerrito (KTU275). There are others south of San Francisco and in the San Joaquin Valley, but those are the closest and most likely suspects. Or maybe some well (or poorly in your case) placed State of Calif transmitter.

In LA area the governors security detail also uses this frequency(most often simplex).

Just heard a UP RR cop calling in the other night around Torrance. They have it setup oddly though. Often you will hear only one side of the conversation on this one, then the other party on one of the other UHF channels. It's not typical input/output... It's something else. Because it will actually change during the same conversation. Sometimes you hear them, sometimes you don't.

Just FYI CHP is now dispatching for UPPD on a contract.

Yeah, I haven't heard them use it much though. I don't know how long it will last, because they don't seem to be too helpful. This last guy just ended up calling Torrance PD on his phone.

There needs to be some protocol in addition to sending the check every month. I was surprised they didnt contract with the DPR/DFG centers, they are used to dealing with guys who work alone in the middle of nowhere.

True, that seems like it would have been a better fit... Better coverage too.
