Heard SDPD respond to a request from CHP dispatch to assist their units after they lost comms with them after a pursuit ended in south Clairemont. Three suspects bailed near Clairemont drive and Burgener.

ABLE was on scene within 2 min and spotted the CHP officers and 2 suspects, a PD unit stayed with the CHP guys to perform old fashioned interoperability and relay between the CHP and PD.

At least one suspect went down in the canyon there, I'm guessing that if the CHP portables are 700MHz they might have lost a path to the vehicle if the officers were in the canyon, but I have not worked with 700 MHz systems to know their propagation patterns.

I was listening to that incident. I heard ABLE talking on the Orange to the dispatcher, then they switched to Northern and advised they could not communicate with the officers. Eventually the chopper was able (hehe, ABLE) to use the megaphone to direct the suspect to the officers who arrested him without incident.

I initially heard the units terminate and call out into the canyon, but don't recall hearing them anymore after that..... weird.
