Okay all,

using AntennaSearch.com I can't come up with a good location for CHP Towers. I know in Marin County, we have Mount Tam, Big Rock and Sonoma Mountain, along with a East Bay site.

What about Sonoma County? Where are the towers there, specifically North of Santa Rosa? I know CHP Emerald 4 (WNDL495) is still licensed out of the CHP Office located in Rohnert Park, but where are the other towers?

Inigo, do you have any info here?

Regards,

-Frank C.

Correct. I would always consult the FCC ULS database for specifics. Radioreference imports ULS data in the license search feature, and I find the RR version much more user friendly then the FCC version (it just isn't always as up to date).

You can then use the type field to try and narrow down the function of the frequency.

FB = Base Station
FB2 = Repeater output
FX1 = often repeater input (but not always)
MO = Mobile (simplex, and sometimes also repeater input)

When you get really good you can look at the Class field and figure out wide vs narrowband, and analog vs digital all from the license. (Unless they're licensed for all of the above, which they usually are.) But I would highly recommend researching further into reading FCC license data and getting it directly from the ULS site or RR in lieu of some other third party.

And thanks again Harry for the great map! :)

Thanks Harry! I saw the WNVM905 licensed out of Benicia, for the Golden Gate Division office, but didn't think to look deeper!

Inigo, Thanks for the the reminder of such!
