Word on the street is that Christian Co Fire departments are going to DMR soon. Believe it or not, they are one of the few in the Springfield area that are still analog. Sounds as if it will be a similar channel setup to Springfield and Greene Co Fire departments in that all departments will be dispatched on one channel, and then switch to an ops channel.

So if you're in the area, keep an ear out! From what I gathered, the project is already behind schedule as it was initially supposed to be deployed in May 2021.

Would likely be the same frequencies they use now and they’d just be moved to DMR. However, I’ve been told by a couple techs that there would likely still be analog for tone out for paving as DMR does NOT allow for two tone paging. You can send the tones out on DMR put it will not work for pagers.

Well, sounds like your word on the street is true. I have not heard any traffic from Christian county sheriff, fire, Ozark PD and Nixa PD. On the Nixa fire frequency it is now what sounds like the computer generated control channel. When my scanner first stopped on the channel I thought it was a paging front end overload on my scanner…..for the previous 2 wks the dispatcher has been moving the dispatch channels to a law channel. I can only assume the techs are working on the system when it’s not so busy, usually at night. I will continue to monitor but have not heard anything yet.

It's a work in progress. The official Fire Department switch over was last night. I'm working on sniffing out the details of this system now. It appears to be a multi site Capacity Plus system. Kinda quirky to trunk.. a lot easier with Dsd+. I'll be making a submission with updates from my findings today.

Ah Oh, that kind of leaves my Whistler TRX-2, P25RX and my Unication G5 out. The only scanner I have that will handle Mototrbo Cap+ is the SDS200 and that, I can't readily put in the car......

Update on the system. The tech with the other agency says the dispatcher he was talking with seemed a bit confused. Turns out there was three voice paths per site with one time slot being used for the control channel. So two freqs per site. Looks like there is actually going to be 7 sites. Right now only five sites are active.

While your TRX-2 cannot trunk-track the system, you can still program the frequencies, talkgroups, & color codes, and the scanner can receive traffic for the frequencies & TGIDs you entered. The Whistler scanners that can receive DMR do so by listening to the voice channels for the programmed talkgroups. You can't really hold on a TGID like you can with a Uniden scanner with the upgrade, but if the system is not very busy, it might be satisfactory to you.

In another thread, it’s noted that the DMR system is now in the database. Once this week’s update occurs and the system is added to EZ-Scan’s database, you should be able to use the Library Import to add it to your scan list.

Is anyone hearing anything out of Billings Fire. It seems like I’m hearing about every place else on the new system, but nothing from Billings. While it’s a small town it has a pretty large fire district. I have not heard anything for three days which is unusual.

When I’m on the area I hear billing Fire no issue. It all depends on if you’re picking up the clever site. It’s my understanding Billings Fire is only heard on the clever site and a one frequency cap + site in Billings that I’m working to get full info on before submitting.
