i live in clarksville, very close to Kentucky and all, and I'm using dsd to try and hear the police and everything up there, but for some reason i can't even pick up the freq? like i have them all programmed in conventional mode, but it will not stop on a channel or anything. in clarksville were on provoice, and it stops on the channel and it decodes, but i hear NO traffic. Is there new freq i am not aware of that just aren't in the data base? I've searched and found nothing on my scanner. Any help please :) thanks!

If you are talking about listening to Christian County Kentucky, you are probably way to far away to hear them.

Yeah, I feel your pain, I live in Christian County, and I am trying to program our Fire Freq into my radio (HT1000), because my volunteer dept is short on pagers. I programmed the freq's and they are still using UHF, but I can't hear anything on my radio, I can hear it on a LE scanner feed online but not on my radio, what am I doing wrong?!?

You will need to find out the frequency(s) used in their pagers.

On the Christian County feed page I see ALL VHF:

153.2450 156.7 PL CHRSTFD 1 Christian Co. Fire

154.4450 156.7 PL CHRSTFD 2 Christian Co. Dispatch-Christian County Rescue & West Side Fire Department

154.130 123.0 PL CHRSTFD - Black Fireground
153.890 156.7 PL CHRSTFD - Green Fireground
154.355 156.7 PL CHRSTFD - Yellow Fireground

I see a few UHF frequencies on the county database Christian County page, Hopkinsville and Oak Grove, but they don't appear to be on the feed unless they are patched to the VHF frequencies.

Ok, Nexedge cannot be decoded by scanners as of yet (unless a leap in scanning technology has been made that I'm not aware of). Especially if its encrypted. You won't get much traffic on the VHF channels since all the Nexedge is on UHF frequencies.

well i have a discriminator tap on my scanner i monitor provoice where i live, so hearing them should not be a problem. It's me finding out where their traffic is that seems to be the problem.

The best bet you'll have will be on the UHF frequencies. That's where all the traffic is now. Nothing is simulcasted to VHF to my knowledge. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

What dept are you with ? Use 154.4450 CC is still doing paging on that freq.

You may be doing something wrong with your HT programing or it could be the radio itself. I live in Clarksville close to Oak Grove and I can hear CC doing page outs on 154.4450 for all the depts but Hoptown. You may be in a " hole " where you are at and just cant hear them. CC dispatch is a little weak by the Oak Grove area. When OG gets a call OGPD will retransmit the page on the same freq due to the weak signal from CC dispatch. You will only hear the page out and what type of call they are being sent on. All operations and fire ground talk are on the Nexedge system. I dont know if anything will change with the Narrow band going into effect.

Let us know if you have any luck

Im not sure what to tell you. Keep monitoring 154.4450 you should hear the page outs. Send me an i/m on what dept you volunteer for. I can check to see if they are paging out on another freq
