The headline in the linked news article is misleading. The broadcasts continue. The only thing that stopped was the long dash and time is now announced as UTC. Otherwise, they are transmitting as usual.

I first found CHU as a 9 year old playing with a transistor radio under the covers after bedtime--they must have been broadcasting on a different frequency than nowadays because I could pick it up at the extreme bottom of the AM dial. I was fascinated by this wierd station that just beeped and gave out the time. It was "my favourite radio station" for awhile! Ah, the joy of discovery!
