I use to have a CB in halfmoon, use to get skip all the time on my Galaxy DX2547, I still have all the LMR-400 and the hookup into the house, and the galaxy is still sittin in a box under my bed. I sold the Imax 2000 antenna a while ago, hell, it was the best damn antenna, use to talk to Cali and Florida and mostly south. got some good range out of it, talked to a guy in Saratoga with no amps, just 12 watts peaked and tuned.

In the Clifton Park area is the truck station/stop there, you can probably get a few guys there, I did when I had mine hooked up, there was also this guy there that would always respond back loud and clear, I think he was on a base as well, always on Ch. 19 27.185MHz

I used a Magnum S9 for a while in the Albany area. There is a good net usually on 27 and 35...lots of Troy folks come in on 35 from the hills. Definetly need a good antenna though. I was able to reach Hudson Falls from Latham with an antron antenna
