Hello all you radio junkies! Lol
Ive had a fair share of scanners in the past from when i was in my teens till now. I love to listen to whats going on around me. Then awhile back everything went encrypted, but i just recently discovered my area has fire rescue back on the scanner radio app so maybe theres some hope?

If anyone could give me some insight to my area(CITRUS COUNTY FLORIDA 34442) I would greatly appreciate it. What would be the best scanner for my area? Or the most budget friendly option as im sure L.E. Is still encrypted.

Thank you in advance!

If you want to listen to the public safety trunking system, the SDS-100 is the only scanner I can recommend because it supports P25 SIMULCAST. Fire Rescue / EMS has always been in the clear. You may be able listen to the system with other P25 Phase II capable scanners, but with mixed results.

There's also the SDS200 and the Unication G4 or G5. The Unications are great receivers and considered a commercial / public safety grade receiver with hobbyist-friendly dealers, but their scanning functionality is more limited.

If you haven't already, look over the data base for Citrus County: Citrus County, Florida (FL) Trunked Systems

SDS-100 is the best scanner I have ever used. Good luck! Also very impressive it took 11 years for your first post. Lol!
