So you mean the new CFD radio system is trunked, and not conventional? What is the baud rate of the control channels on 476.6875 and 478.2125?

I don't think that it is trunked. I also don't know if it will be trunked. Right now, it is UHF Conventional- Digital. One would think that there will be assigned talkgroups and such, just like any other digital trunked system.

I popped 476.6875 into my PRO2096 and while it shows the data as M36, it does not indicate a SysID. I can hear what sounds like Moto 3600 data on both 476.6875 and 478.2125 but can not get SysID's.

CFD has licenses for these and many other UHF t-Band for both trunked and conventional. I think Dave (Werinshades) reported that the system would be conventional at the start. I thought I read someplace that they were holding off on trunking for now, but now that there are data channels who knows...

I have heard a CC on 476.6875 and 478.2125 but now its gone and today hearing all "grid" testing on these freqys in CONVENTIONAL mode...They were at the Opera House and Ohare , there digital sounds very good and clear and they even mentioned how well it worked on different floors....Using a CMtri-band with 9913 coax up 35' here so being about 35 miles SW of Chicago is good coverage....My 396 worked better than the GRE500, seems the 396 is better on UHF , MY OPINION....They refered to 476.6875-NAC293 as CWide-South??

Yes, it will be coventional, UHF Digital, 6 Channel repeatered system. Their will be low-powered UHF (unknown if Digital or Analog yet) also in use. These will be the "fireground" and miscellaneous usages type. We have yet to have "training" on the radios. I have heard the Battalion Chiefs , DDC's and EMS ADCP's going to the OEMC for training. Not sure what the schooling is on yet. All Chief Officers (Both Fire and EMS) will have the capabilities of switching to "encrypted" mode for sensitive communications. Not sure on the official date for switch over yet, but i'm leaning towards late-fall/early winter if I had to take an educated guess.

Control Channel Signal?

I was told by someone with reported connections to a technician working on the OEMC/CFD T-band system that the control channel-like sound that we've heard on OEMC's 476.6875 and 478.2125 repeaters is a signal used to compute bit error rate (BER) when testing and mapping coverage of P25 repeaters/systems.
