A small blurb in this week’s Clifton’s local news paper “The Clifton Journal” indicates the city will need a million dollar outlay to improve their communication system for it’s Police and Fire/EMS services. See: Clifton Journal (small paragraph on page 2 of this art.)
After checking the recent changes to the cities’ FCC licenses to meet FCC narrow band dead line. It looks to me that Clifton will be going digital 11K0F1D 9600 baud. What I can piece together with the info that I have on hand. It looks like a P25 system. It looks right now like a TMDA Phase 1 P25-compliant system. And whether it’s “encrypted” or “open” or will Clifton be the next town to go dark to the scanning world? the roll out and start dates have yet to be determined.
