With lack of support from Compton City Council and growing budgetary problems, Mayor Eric Perrodin (a former Compton cop) the most supportive of the effort, tabled the idea calling it "dead on arrival."
“My colleagues have shown me that they don’t want a police department,” Perrodin said. “I’m telling everybody now that the police department is dead. Move on. It’s not that big of a deal.”

Compton Unified School District Police has 470.1625 and 470.0125, and Compton Community College has some 451 frequencies for "School maintenance, admin & security" but neither of those are City agencies.I thought I remember seeing old Compton Police frequencies in the "470" range. They might have expired though.

Compton PD was always on 155.85 that I remember, and about the time LASD got the contract the Compton Municipal Law Enforcement Service got three pairs of 506 frequencies. But they let the license sit expired for four years and the FCC refused to reinstate it in 2006. MLES's mission is "programs and services designed to eliminate slum and blight conditions and maintain the overall safety and appearance of the community. The department focuses on the abatement of weeds and debris on residential, commercial and industrial properties; enforcing codes related to parking violations, zoning infractions, and property maintenance; and increasing security and safety in and around City facilities."
