I'm glad it's going to be a phase 1 system, but if it's going to be full-time encrypted, I guess it's a moot point.

Wonder if they are using ADP?
DSD+ should show AlgID and KID?
Some vendors vendor lock systems that way. @#$%$#$!@$#
Of course if you want to play secret squirrel first I wouldn't be having the patrol cars broadcasting 802.11 probe's request's to the AP's that run the city's mesh system. Kinda easy to track cars by MAC, Probes and RF Power Analysis from a INFOSEC "Quick Concept Idea" standpoint in my opinion and totally legal to do it since none of those are encrypted. 2nd I would go AES-GCM even on the control channel if you need a "Secure" system that bad (Might as well go all out security wise, ADP is got some flaws and is a lower level of security). Personally I think its vendor locking. To bad on the encryption something like https://github.com/robotastic/trunk-recorder would be cool to have to monitor that system.
Or go https://github.com/madengr/ham2mon and modify the code to record then process it with DSD.
I'm all about PTT over 4G LTE now and out of the radio world so might be a bit better solution out there.
Just my two bits and bytes, Back into the wood work..

Its only used by jatran dpw and jsu ops. It has very little traffic and is the dumbest Jackson city council move ever. Jpd jfd jsu pd all are moving to mswin over next few months

JPD has been doing a lot of testing, including (but not limited to) simulcasting their main dispatch channel to their new system, fully encrypted. The talkgroup on the new system is 10001, but I would guess it is just a test talkgroup. I also heard THP simulcasting on JPD's operations channel. It sounded really good, very clear and the audio levels were practically identical. It seems like JPD will soon be able to interop with MCSO and THP.

The 10001 talkgroup is a test talkgroup. I saw it and 10003 pop up when the testing was going on in East Tn a couple of years ago.

Yesterday 3/4/17 the 10001 TG was full encryption. I also noticed that all of the old analog TG's are the same on the NEW P25 system I know Fire Dispatch is the same and Police Dispatch is the same also using 2 scanners I confirmed that PD Dispatch was in the clear and simulcast on 10001 encrypted. I am not sure why unless they are testing the encryption. I live out of range of this system and only get to hear it when I travel. But more monitoring is needed to confirm the setup.

Police and Fire Dispatch talk groups are being console patched to the old system talk groups for now to help with the migration to the new system. Both of the new simulcast sites should be operational now. I have been told that all Police and Fire talk groups will be encrypted.

The only simulcast I've heard so far, is JPD's dispatch encrypted on the new P25 system. Well, that's not entirely true; THP's dispatch is being simulcast on MCSO's system right now, using TG 110. THP was also simulcasted about 2 weeks ago on JPD's Operations TG. Apparently a joint taskforce to enforce distracted driving laws. There has been so much testing, it's hard to keep track of everything.

Log the RIDs and patches and ID users while you can guys. Once they all move to the P25, Jackson is going dark. Full Time Encryption on ALL Public Safety TGs. You may get lucky and hear them on the MCSO side when they use those patches, but that's it.

Quick update: It appears that JPD's main dispatch channel is the only one operating on their old system. All of the new talkgroups are full-time encrypted. They just finished updating the radios, at least the mobiles (they updated them first). For what it's worth, the talkgroups that I have seen are:
10001 = Main Dispatch (simulcast on old system)
10003 = PTac
10010 = Records (NCIC)
The RadioIDs are:
10x = Dispatcher (each TG gets a unique RID)
11xxx = Mobile/Portable Units
Channels are:
859.2625 = CC
859.5129 = SCC
860.2625 = SCC
858.7625
860.3625
860.7625
862.4750
All of this information is only to the best of my knowledge. Also, I haven't seen any other agencies besides JPD using the new system.

Very interesting. I also noticed JFD has switched over to the new system, and I no longer hear them on the old one. Their Dispatch 1 TG is 10020. What kind of receiver are you using to listen to the new system?

I'm just curious how you can hear encrypted communications on a scanner? I have a BCD436HP, and it shows the TG, but I get no audio. Can you confirm talk group IDs? I have different receivers listening and they all report the TGs I listed above. As of this writing, JPD is still transmitting only their main dispatch channel on both the old and new systems. I feel like I'm missing something.

He can not hear jpd. Not on the p25 system. Not dispatch or tacs. Maybe an event tg or interop with so. But not jpd regular use.

The only thing I'm hearing on the old system is:
Animal Control
Street Dept
Public Works
JPD Dispatch 1
Narcotics (some encrypted)
Fire seems to be completely on the new system, and I'm no authority, but I've yet to hear anything on the new system that isn't encrypted. I appreciate your confirmation.

Three more talk groups that I've seen on the new P25 system:
10021 = JFD Tac 1
10022 = JFD Tac 2
10023 = JFD Tac 3
The Jackson Fire Department has not used the old system in almost one week.

As of 2 pm today, JPD is no longer simulcasting on the old system. All of their communications (except for the stray portable) are now on the new system and are fully encrypted. FWIW, I saw a new talk group:
10008 = JPD Operations 1
