• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Not anytime soon. They probably just licensed their freqs for digital future use. I would imagine someday that everyone in Colorado will be "digital" in some way. Boulder County agencies as well as Larimer are pretty much the only ones left that are trying to stay away from the push to the Colorado DTRS system. I would bet that you won't see them going digital anytime soon, even if it is on VHF.

Off Topic - Arvada

So Arvada's going to move away from their UHF ?
(That would kind of stink to me since they're so easy to receive.)

Well like I said, someday, they will probably be digital (provoice, APCO-25 whatever). Digital will most likely become the standard with "everything" soon enough.

Arvada Fire is in the process (albeit slowly) of moving to the Westy EDACS system.

Besides the MDC data from Weld county on 453.550 causes interference with AFD.

I am under the impression that Longmont is still looking at options with the "East Side" coverage issues.

Phil.
