City of New Orleans Government Trunking System, New Orleans, Louisiana - Scanner Frequencies

Does anyone know if this system is deprecated, or if there really are only Radio Test talkgroups on it, or if someone just needs to set up a wildcard and listen to it to gather more info?

Okay, so I went ahead and programmed this system in. I've been listening this morning and picking up lots of talkgroups with the wildcard setting. The problem was that I wasn't hearing them. The scanner would stop for a few seconds, act like it was receiving a transmission, but there would be no audio. Eventually I tried turning squelch all the way down and that did the trick. Now I can hear them all! I don't know if this is a simulcast issue or what, but I'm just glad it's working now.

The only talkgroup I've been able to definitively identify so far is 584, which is Department of Public Works - Parking Enforcement. Lots of vehicle and location descriptions, talk about impounding vehicles, parking citations (especially 978, which is "Stopping or parking prohibited during certain hours on certain days on certain streets"), etc. I've submitted it to the database.

Am I really the first person to bother exploring this system?

I'm still a relative noob, so pardon my ignorance, but I just pulled the entire system into my 668 (WS-1080 firmware) via EZ Scan and didn't change anything except setting up a wildcard. When I look through the system in my 668 (I don't have EZ Scan here at work) it's showing all the frequencies in the system, so I guess I'm using... all of the control channels?

Also, Talkgroup 997 is either Orleans Parish Prison or the Youth Study Center (the juvenile jail). It's a jail for sure, but I'm not sure how to figure out which.

Have you looked under the LWIN system and looked at the Orleans and Jefferson locations?

You might be looking at the wrong system for what your looking for.

I wasn't really looking for anything. I just noticed that there was nothing but two radio test talkgroups in this system and decided to check it out. It apparently really is the New Orleans City Government trunked system, but no one has bothered to explore it yet.

LWIN doesn't actually have any New Orleans City Government talkgroups on it except for NOPD and the like.

There are 2 sites for this system. One is at or near MSY and the other is simulcast in N.O.. The info for the MSY site is 851.875c and 852.2125,852.6875,853.45, and 853.95 as alternates. The simulcast site has 851.3375 as control (at least as of December). Some talkgroups I've heard so far include:

Thanks for the info, Technoguy. I've heard 646, but I can't tell what it is yet. 997 is a jail, so it's either Orleans Parish Prison, New Orleans Central Lockup, or the Youth Study Center. Haven't come across the other TGs you mention yet.

I work in New Orleans near the Superdome, so I can monitor for a few hours each day Monday-Friday.

Yeah, I was listening to it as I was driving home from work (westbound on I-10) yesterday and I stopped being able to receive it shortly before the Jefferson Parish line (even though there is supposedly another site at MSY in Kenner).
