No talkgroup activity, yet. I did note the tower flavor is Phase 2, however the Norfolk, Humphrey and Elgin towers show the same flavor as well. The control channel signal strength is great when my Pro 106 is hooked up to my attic antenna, but it is rather weak on my end of town on the Radio Shack 800mhz stub antenna.

Hopefully I will have more to follow soon and submit to the database.

Was in Norfolk Tuesday and last night didn't hear anything on the new 800 site. I didn't have the capability to run any control channel decoding software.
Questions for anyone who might know.
#1-will LifeNet be using the SRS once RACOM's EDACS site is taken off the air? I know they use Iowa's state system and ORION (mainly 1-1 and 1-3), but will 1-2 be dispatched using SRS and Norfolk's 800 site?

#2-will Norfolk PD or FD be using the VHF side? I believe fire will be using multi-band Motorola radio but I don't know what PD will be using.

#3-will NSP and Madison co have access to this site or will it be restricted to Norfolk users only?

I don't know how LifeNet will be impacted.

Both PD and Fire will be on the 800 side and will have the capability to roam to the VHF side as needed.

My guesses are Madison SO will be able to access Norfolk, I believe they have multi-band radios installed as well, judging by seeing the antenna installed on the SO vehicles. NSP probably through a patch.

Home for lunch today and fired up the Pro 106 and heard radio testing first time today on Norfolk 800. New TG logged-50710, possibly Norfolk PD?

Somebody is testing a portable around Norfolk, Wal-Mart, among other places. The user also said he was "in a room with 2ft thick concrete walls and could still talk, impressive!"

I was in Norfolk yesterday and heard a short conversation on this talk group when I was around 275/57 east of Norfolk.
This might be FD testing. They traveled outside the city and some of the locations sounded like the edge of their fire district. The person said the portable didn’t work in some spots but the mobile did. I can’t recall the exact location.
the way he was talking sounded like neither radio switched to the VHF site. So they might have that locked down right now.

Read a FB by city of Norfolk saying they are testing the sirens from new consoles. Yesterday dispatch was doing quite a few radio checks with Stanton co. They may have recently installed the new consoles. The new consoles should be MCC7500 if I remember right. Maybe a patch for PD from EDACS to SRS will be done soon and they might start the transition

So far, what I have logged for talkgroups:

50710--Possibly Norfolk FD per ORION_NE
50714--Logged on Pro96com, only heard a couple of times, just dead air.
50720--Not sure who is on this TG, occasional random conversations.

Going to plug the scanner into Pro96com and let it ride today, see if I come up with any more, particularly if the portables and mobles are being denied on the Norfolk VHF site.

Was wondering if they were going to lock them down to the 800mhz site only for now or keep it like that in the future.
If they follow the talk group template that other LE agencies used 50703 should be NPD dispatch. Examples Seward, Nebraska City and Schuyler PDs

Is public works switching to this system too? Also wondering if Faith Regional will be using it too.

Good question on both. Letting Pro96com work it's magic, it logged the following talkgroups since 1030:

50000
50710-already confirmed
50720
50730
50732
50734
50736
50741
50743
458??? not sure where this came from. Only match I could find is Douglas County VFD Dispatch, however unlikely to roam to Norfolk, unless a patch was turned on somewhere, a mystery TG or a gremlin in Pro96com.

Norfolk PD went partially live today. All that I am hearing is dispatch. The rest of the radio traffic is still over EDACS.

It's almost safe to say Norfolk PD TG is 50710. But I'm going to let it ride for a few more days and see if anything changes.

Same here. Going to go ahead and submit these to the DB admin, 50710, Norfolk PD Dispatch, also 50711 is PD Ops 2, lots of radio testing and the person testing the radios kept saying "Testing on PD OPS 2".

In addition to those listed above, I've also heard these
50714 possibly Norfolk PD Secure ... Multiple groups doing voice & tone checks, "Norfolk PD calling SE" and later "10-2, 1S on Secure". Last I heard, the keys were not yet loaded on the consoles.
50715 doing tone testing
50721 doing voice checks
50731 doing voice checks
50740 doing voice & tone checks
