I was wondering, which handheld (for when I am in the yard) and BASE (when I am in the shop) scanner would be fine for Flagler County, Florida 32164. The Flagler County Sheriff's Dept. has gone to TRUNKING, I believe. Not sure about FHP,and, Fire and Medical still (ALSO) use their standard old channels. I would like to find a list of up-dated FREQS for my area( or a sourse to find them), including, POLICE, FIRE, RESCUE/AMBULANCE,etc. I live in Flagler County, in the CITY of Palm Coast. The other citys within Flagler County include, Bunnell and Flagler Beach. I used to have a great BASE SCANNER, before trunking took over. It would search and automatically save active freqs!!!! I miss that system. Thanx for any help I can get. Sincerely, Scott. :)

It's not as much as they're "encrypted" - they operate on an EDACS ProVoice system. You can't monitor it was a commerical scanner, but that doesn't neccesarily mean they're encrypted per se (unlike FHP, and I won't beat that dead horse again...)

Looking at handheld PRO-95

I was looking at a PRO-95 1000 channel duel trunking handheld for around $150.00. I guess that one won't work then. I will keep looking. Thanx, Scott.

OK> I have done some research and now need your advice> Radio Shack Scanners>> PRO-97 Triple Trunking, etc. $200 VS. PRO-528 Triple trunking, etc. $149 on sale, save $20. Each says> Digital Coded Squelch Decoding=YES.<?> Will these radios work in Flagler County? Why should I pay $50 more for the PRO-97? Frequency coverage is simular but looks to be more flexible with the PRO-97. Other than this> I see no difference but weight. Is the PRO-97, a better investment. I am ready to purchase the radio after I hear some input. Thanx for your time, Scott. :)

Thanx Bravo14:
I know that Palm Coast went to the same system that Daytona Beach did and I can manually enter the 800 mhz channels in my older base scanners and hear them clear as day, but, I couldn't follow the tx and rx's because of the trunking system. I think I will buy the BC246T just to be on the safe side. It looks like an impressive reciever anyway. I also know that our RESCUE and Flagler Hospital is on EDACS. So far as I know, our fire department is still in the 153 mhz range. I listen to them regularly. I have down loaded the Flagler P.D. trunking groups for future reference. Thanx for all your help and if any new info arises, please feel free to let me know. Thanx, Scott

No problem Electric,
I had the pro2055 that is the brother of pro97. I haven't try to see if Flag/Palm Coast 800 worked but that will do trunking too. Do you police on Palm Coast system? I can not pick up the systems up since they are a weak system. I can hear Jax through out the week. I know the Flag Co F/R is still on vhf.

I am not able to pick up anything down there up here. I'm still looking for the talk groups for both systems.

Ok, now I am getting frustrated!! I deleted all preprogrammed frequencies in my new scanner since none had anything to do with my area and I could start fresh knowing what I put in. Well, I have learned how to search. I cannot find how to program a frequency or an ID into my system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Hey there

I want to program my Primary Freqs and the I.D.'s for Daytona beach Police, etc. How do i do this? This is under EDACS as the Daytona radio system says. Where do I put the primaries? How does the scanner locate it to coordinate with the I.D.'s? I know your scanner programming is like mine. OK, I want to put in Daytona P.D. and this is what I have for them>Freq>856.7125 / TGID>14-002=Police 1////////Freq>857.2125 / TGID>14-011 = POLICE 2////////Freq>858.2125 / TGID>14-010 = POLICE 3///////FREQ>859.2125 /TGID> 14-001 = POLICE 4/////////// FREQ>860.2125 / TGID>14-005 = POLICE 5///////FREQ>857.7125 / TGID>14-003 = POLICE 6. DO I program these in separate systems or groups or quick keys??????? I am going to try and do a TGID search like you are doing and see it it works for me. Take care, Scott. P.S.>What freqs/ID's do you want? Just let me know. I have collected them from Jax to Daytona Beach.I pick up Jax fire in Palm Coast.

I hope that you are using a software program to input the information into your scanner. If not, your going to get even more frustrated. Talkgroups are not assigned to frequencies. A talkgroup may come up on any of the frequencies in a system. For a trunked system like Daytona or Volusia, you first must enter all of the frequencies for the system in a special order called LCN or logical channel number. If you check the data on RR you will see a small number by the frequency for edacs systems. If the small number says 1 then you must program the frequency into position 1 of a bank. Continue on until you have entered them all. Then you go through the process of entering talkgroup numbers and creating a name for the talkgroup. with software you can see all of this on the page and entered the correct info in the appropriate blocks.
