The city of Worcester's EDACS 800 MHz Trunk System has been rebanded as of Sunday September 17 at 1500 hrs.

This new LCN order has not been officially confirmed by those in the know, but it has been all but confirmed by Worcester area scanner listeners and trunk tracks fine. All that is necessary to monitor the Worcester system is to reprogram your scanner with the updated LCN.

1 856.5125
2 854.1375
3 854.8875
4 854.4625
5 854.2125
6 855.4875
7 855.7125
8 855.7375
9 855.9625
10 855.9875

I am new to the scanner world and live in Worcester. I was getting all of Worcester's talkgroups up untill this weekend and now i get nothing. When you say LCN order I assumed that i needed to program the above frequencies in order. I did that but still cannot get anything on the scanner. Am I doing somthing wrong or is there somthing else I need to do other than what i did? I have a radio shack scanner pro 97 if that helps.

tried your order and i am still getting nothing. I used to pick up everything from the water department to the police department to the damn cemeteries. I change the mode to ed from fm should i be doing this? I am lost and it's bothering the hell out of me because it is most likely somthing so easy. Like I said i am new at this wish they had a pro 97 for dummies book.

Are your talkgroups still programmed? They might get flushed when you reprogram the system frequencies, especially if the mode setting for the bank gets changed. If your scanner is in CLOSED mode and there are no talkgroups in memory, then you won't hear anything.

not sure I know what you mean by talkgroups, and closed mode? I bought the scanner from radio shack and they cloned it from a floor model. I went back there but they no longer have the frequenices programmed in their scanner.

Make sure you start the first frequency in channel 1, not channel 0! Set the bank to ED for EDACS. Open mode means it will receive any and all talkgroups (users) that are part of the system, as in PD, FD, DPW, etc.....If you see a + sign above the bank number, you are in OPEN mode. To scan only groups you want to hear you need to manually program those groups ONLY, then set the bank to closed mode. This will show a - sign above the bank number.

I always recommend software, www.starrsoft.com

Why is it when i had my 94 you put in all the right freq. it works fine but i do the same with the 95 and i get nothing. So i have to search freq. my 95 is off. 856.5125 is the right one to start with but i have to set the 95 to 856.52500 to get a clear ch. Radio Shack Crap!

Is there a place in or around Worcester that will program my scanner for me? At this point I would'nt mind paying someone to do it. Even if someone on here was willing to do it I'd pay them. Just that constant beeep beep beep beeep then that annoying almost squelch sound then the morse code sound. I just wanna throw this damn thing out the window.

I was right. The plus sign after the lockout indicator says that your scanner is in OPEN mode. It is not trunktracking.

Sounds like you need a manual. Radio Shack's website has manuals as PDF files for all of their current scanner models, so you can download it for free and search it on your computer.

Shay508 has it right!

Now, ENSURE that each CHANNEL is set to ED (EDACS) and that the BANK is set to ED (EDACS). This should work. Then, just keep it in OPEN (+) mode. You can label (Alpha Tag) the individual groups as you like.

Scratch that, see the order that Lynskey85 has for the frequencies. THESE are the CORRECT ones in the CORRECT order.

Actually, I misspoke above. The radio is in fact in Open mode, but it is also trunktracking, provided the channels and bank are set to ED mode, as others have pointed out. What should be happening, if the scanner is configured correctly, is searching for and monitoring of ANY talkgroup on the system. In Closed mode, the scanner would only be able to monitor talkgroups if they are programmed into memory. Sorry for any confusion.

The freqs are the top of the post ARE the correct freqs. Shay's may be working because the receiver in the Pro93/95 can trunk with it being off a few Khz steps. Make sure you have the proper step set (see manual). It SHOULD be 12.5khz. "Auto step" (Uniden radios have this, for sure) may or may not work properly. When I reprogrammed my BC250, I had some pretty nasty freqs showing up that weren't programmed.

Try that, if that doesn't work, PM or email me. I'm constantly floating around the City and surrounding towns and can reprogram most any RS/Uniden scanner from my vehicle.
