Has anyone observed any actual HF frequency usage by the Civil Air Patrol recently? I know some may have frequencies in their notes and some may have channel designators. Let's share what we have and match them up.

cap HF activity

Charles, CAP HF activity varies a lot. It's down since I was a net controller in AZ wing 11 years ago, but still quite active in some areas. Perhaps your problem is your data base. It has numerous errors. Since our frequencies are now AIr Force mandated as "for official Use Only": I can't comment on those errors, but your break down of regions/wings has at least one fault I see. NV is Not in the regiion you mention, but rather in Pacific region where it is not listed at all in the call signs NV is "Silver State". Best time to listen is the evenings local between about 6 PM and 8 PM. Hint, Pacific regiion is very active particualily CA wing.

I don't recall the exact source of the information, but I did read at least a couple of years ago that the 26 MHz frequencies had been vacated by CAP.

CAP recently released 9 suites of frequencies, covering all regions and a nationwide suite for ALE, all HF operations is be moved to ALE and a a nationwide deployment of ALE technology is undeway. Looming on the horizon is HF digital encryption using the Rockwell Collins digital voice modems (same as CBP). The equipment being supplied is the Mobat line including numerous transportable Mobat Rapid Deployment Packages (RDP).

Hate to bump an old thread, but didn't want to create a new one, either. But anyways... various WHITE PEAK callsigns are presently active on 6773 KHz USB on 12/8/2012 at 2005 UTC. At least 3-5 stations in a net, giving various information. Sounds like an exercise.

From the recent spreadsheet on CAP HF freqs, we can see that the 3-letter designator for each channel has a common meaning for the first two letters - Regional Nets.
NR_ - National HQ Reserved
NE_ - North East / ALE Net 1
ME_ - Mid East / ALE Net 2
GL_ - Greatl Lakes / ALE Net 3
SE_ - South East / ALE Net 4
NC_ - North Central / ALE Net 5
SW_ - South West / ALE Net 6
RM_ - Rocky Mountain / ALE Net 7
PC_ - Pacific Coast / ALE Net 8
NN_ - National Command Net / ALE Net 9
