More than likely to be a part of the state wide AFRN network. Chilton County SO and Fire and Rescue are already broadcasting on this system.

While the plan is to use existing tower sites, additional infrastructure including antennas, repeaters, computer control units for each site and microwave connectivity will be needed.

According to Wright, “The frequencies used are in the 700-800 MHZ range and are specifically for public safety use only.”

That sounds like AFRN to me.

Madison Co. Has a node on the AFRN on the AEMA tower in Clanton. We can listen to a few of our talkgroups down there but scan is disabled just like Montgomery.
