At about 12:40pm today I passed the Clark Firehouse #2 on Raritan Rd. next to the Raritan River. The parking lot was empty. About 5 min. later on my return east, the parking lot was full of private vehicles and the 2 ambulances were on the pad. I got home about 10 min after that and just caught them saying they put a boat in the river south of and one north of Raritan road. Also I heard Scotch Plains people were on foot walking the banks of the river south. Also the boats were having a little trouble because of debris in the river. From what I hear I don't think the person is a suspect in anything because they would not send so many and I mean a lot of Firemen, unarmed after a suspect so my guess is a diabled person who may have wondered off. They just notified the State Police on the parkway that they have boats in the water next to and under the parkway in case they get calls. PD now told the FD the person they are searching for is a black male, short hair, flannel shirt, blue jeans. I hear now they have 4 boats in the water including PD.
At about 2 pm engine2 went to a local grammer school where a National Guard Helicopter had landed for a show to the kids. They took off and told the Engine 2 that they will hover and also search the area for the lost man.
