• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I had a really talented technician who worked on both my CB and Ham gear in the mid 80's. This guy turned a Siltronics 1011 into a stable and clean radio. One afternoon I went by his place with a FT-101E I wanted him to go through and bring back into new operational shape. Upon knocking on his door his wife opened it and informed me that he had passed away just hours after I left two weeks before. She later gave me several hundred Sam's manuals for the CB radio market. I can't figure out what the heck I did with them, they are all missing. I feel for you.

Is there anyone around much that does good clean stock tunes to cb radios these days? Mainly the older ones.
I know a ham cb guy with decades of experience who is a downright magician if you ever go through WV. But his business is very old school, does things the Americana way, so if you can't drop your stuff off there's not really another option. But he does great work the first time using top quality parts and equipment and stands behind his work. If you ever go down 77 in WV and stop in at the liberty truck stop in mineral Wells, his shop is beside it.

This is not....repeat NOT a complaint.....

I have emailed him two or three times...
My son emailed him to see about getting a radio fixed
He has never answered.

I think he is probably "busy as a one legged man in a tail kicking contest".
Love his work, like his on the air personality....
I just think he has to use rules on what emails he answers to keep his schedule going.....
Can't blame him for having work to do!!!! :)

I get it. He's just about the only well known golden screwdriver type that understands what causes a lot of golden screwdriver related problems.

Mikes Radio Repair, I believe has gone silent. He was very good and hooked me up real well on a 980. You can check out his older videos on You Tube. Also check out Snake Radio Customs (via YouTube). I believe his contact info is on his channel. Some people don't like him or his work, but I didn't have any issues using him. He even has a live stream of his work on his website, which is a fairly transparent way of doing business.

But again, like any service provider, some like him, others don't.

Good luck...
