Clearing the BC-785D's "Search Ranges"?

Can the "Search Ranges" be reset to 0 or factory defaults without affecting the frequencies currently being used in the scanner banks?
Just curious as to if this could be done.

Just enter 0 in lower limit and 0 in upper limit. That sets search ranges to 0. Programmed scan freqs will not be affected.

Doesn't work. I go Menu > Service Option > Chain Search > Chain Search Off > Search Range > Select Range > Enter Lower Search Range > and then enter a Zero, all I get is: Error Out Of Band.


Trying to to do this with Conventional -- not Trunking frequencies.

Hm, one answer says in effect it can be done, another says no it can't..... Anyone know for sure :?
