I know this may a bit out of our usual discussion on RR, but I figured I'd throw this out here for discussion.

I've noticed a new FM radio station in the Strongsville area at 93.7MHz. It's identifying as SPIN FM, but has not yet, in the week I've heard it, given a callsign. It's also coming in rather strong here.

Needless to say, I'm interested in what's going on. Has anybody else noticed this?

There is a construction permit issued for a 6 kW station in Lake County on 93.7 MHz. Call sign is WQGR.

If WQGR was on the air, I would easily hear them here in Willoughby, but I hear no local stations or a SPIN FM on 93.7 (I have a good antenna and tuner that picks up many distant stations). Maybe WQGR was temporarily running some tests, but at only 6kw I don't think it would put a strong signal into Strongsville.

If you're still hearing SPIN FM, maybe one of your neighbors has a device that rebroadcasts stations on the internet or satellite radio into their normal FM tuner. Do you hear it in your car? If so, does the signal drop off as you drive away from your neighborhood?

Hi Joe,

In driving between Chardon and Aurora today, I get a mix of KDKA Pittsburgh and WQIO Eagle 93.7 in Mt Vernon, Ohio depending upon the terrain. Nothing noted from the Cleveland Area.

While this maybe off topic, I find it interesting.
We have SWL areas here on RR, perhaps a braodcast DX sections would be good.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone's posts; I have been out of town. Since being back, I'm still hearing it and drove around a bit. There's a signal covering about a 1 square mile of Strongsville with this signal. I'm right on Pearl Road and thought it was a business or two around me, but it appears not to be that.

I appreciate everyone's input and listening. Given your replies, I'm tending to think it's someone rebroadcasting, as suggested earlier, but doing it with an outdoor antenna or such that they are able to cover such an area. It's all very interesting...

Thanks
