Cleveland Police Tac channels

I pick up all districts broadcast channels just fine.

I can not pickup the tac channels. Does anyone have a solution to this problem..or are tac channels private for police only..

PS: I do get the fire departments tac channels with 0 problems..


I use a Homepatrol-1 scanner.

CPD Tac channel's are ENCRYPTED that's why your not able to monitor them

Larry those channels are encrypted. Which in my option is not a bad thing. You can see in the data base anything with an E next to it is Encrypted. Many of us on this forum before the new Cleveland system went on line were concerned that the entire system would be encrypted and thankfully that did not happen. After many years of not being able to monitor anything in Cleveland I’m just happy to be able to monitor all five distracts and FD and EMS again!

CPD did the sensible thing and encrypted what they needed to (TAC channels). The way it should be.

Thank you Tonya and David for the reply. I did not know of the E designation meaning encrypted.

You are so right about being able to monitor Cleveland PD and Fire. I am very happy to get them too.
