how do you feel your G5 monitor’s the troop and your fire company vs the SDS ?

My Fire Company dispatch is VHF, but I can compare my G5 against the DESPP issued portable I use. For monitoring multiple talk groups, the G5 I would say is probably the better option. I find the G5 very reliable. It may have a few spots where it goes out of range, I know two places it goes out of range every single time I pass through them, both are very short spans and the portable never goes out of range, but that is such a specific issue in very specific locations. Day to day, I really have very few issues or complaints with the G5 on the CLMRN system,

Ok. I am very unhappy with my sds. i know I miss so much I have played around with it and just can’t get it right only on the state system. i am selling my sds to get the G5 from what I read it should work much better

The top performers for me... G4/G5 , P25rx, and a combo dongle from Patriotwaves (basically 2x rtl dongles, bridged, and placed in an aluminum shell with a heat sync, and sma/bnc connector)... for the money the Patriotwaves is hands down the best value, shipped it will run you 60 bucks... you have to install SDRTrunk on a pc but that's really it... performance is outstanding and SDRTrunk has an RR import function.

all you need is the controls and alternates, the system tells the radio what channel to go to, from the control channel (or alternate)
as Chris stated above, thats all that gets programmed into a radio, then the radio gets the rest of its information from the system.
I put in just control channels and I get "Scan mode, nothing to scan"
