Just got a new BCD 325p2 and I am trying to program the CLMRN State system into the scanner using free scan software. I loaded the 2 closest sites and local talk groups. while loading to the scanner I received an error message about not having the APCO Band Plan which I can not find. When using the scanner the talk groups say finding control channel, and I have not heard a single bit of traffic all day between CSP, Groton Town PD, Ledyard PD, and Norwich PD I would assume I would have heard somthing? Any help would be appreciated

I use that same scanner and have loaded CSP sites into mine. Ignore the error about the band plan. It's not needed. One question, are you seeing any signal activity as it scans? If not then you won't hear anything. Also, the stock antenna on the 352 sucks for 800Mhz. Depending on where your are (and it matters by a few feet sometimes), you may not get any control channel signal at all. The CLRM signals are very directional. I live in Marlborough and have a really hard time picking anything at all up, even with a 800Mhz antenna. Take a ride around and watch the signal strength and see if it comes and goes. You should find an area where it's fairly strong and should start hearing stuff.

I’m using a diamond RH77CA antenna and somtimes get up to 2 bars on some of the actual channels. But like I said no activity on any of the actual talk groups and the groups all say looking for control channel or whatever.

Yeah that antenna isnt going to help much, especially in the 700/800s...

I highly suggest programming ONLY the primary CC. I have a setup on my 325 that makes it a beast. DM me.

That’s how I have it on my sds100 also. I programmed all 18 site CC frequencies in case the wind blows and I get a different tower lol

Do u guys think a 3 inch nubby antenna would improve 800 reception? I know the nubbbys are tuned for 800. I am receiving off and on full signal from troop E tower but still only hearing parts of traffic from groton and Norwich PD nothing from troop E

There isn't any one answer for everybody. Signal strength without overloading and without interference is what is needed. You need to experiment with the options in the scanner as well as location for the radio.
However, if you are hearing some of the municipal traffic and nothing from Troop E, there is very likely an issue with your programming.
