Site 38 was the temporary Meriden Site, perhaps it's been moved to cover Westport.

It is reasonably strong here in Milford. I just got Troop G come up on it. And Westport also now.
And I am getting TG 25818 now encrypted. Westport PD?
NAC 3A8
Site 38
SYS ID 3A9
WACN BEE00
So far 769.73125 and 769.23125 came up on the system
It is in my radio as ERV alternate control channel

Yes, I fear Westport is now encrypted. I heard dispatch come on to all channels this morning and tell all units that the old system was going off the air.

All law enforcement in this state will be encrypted eventually. Any channels that are still in the clear are on borrowed time. Getting everyone onto one big statewide system makes flipping that switch much easier when the time comes. Fairfield County has led the way, and it's always struck me as odd that sleepy little towns and their small police forces need encryption while major cities like New York get by without it.

NYC is switching soon so they say over on the NY forum.
Wouldn't surprise me. I feel like that's the final destination for government radio comms because new radio systems make it easy, and we don't really have a right to listen in. It does suck being in the dark about what's going on in your own neighborhood though as the police are now basically the gatekeepers of information. I remember when Greenwich flipped the switch about five years ago and the police at the time promised to keep the public in the loop via twitter which of course they haven't. I think we'll eventually join the state system in a few years like our neighbors in Stamford. Won't take much effort given we're already running a relatively newish multi-site P25P2 system, so the hardware is likely already compatible.

Here's what I can add to the Westport discussion as a local listener …..

I heard the same announcement about the old radio system shutting down this morning from the PD/EMS and FD dispatchers around 7:30. PD and EMS dispatches now operate on TGs 25818 and 25825 respectively and the old channels are silent. Fire dispatch is now TG 25800. PD appears encrypted full time while fire and EMS are not. All the new Westport TGs appear to be phase 2. The former conventional p25 fire dispatch frequency on 460.625 came back to life later in the day and sounds like a patch to the 25800 talk group. I’m guessing this conventional channel will remain a simulcast for some time as Westport receives frequent mutual aid from units in Fairfield, Wilton, Weston etc that also operate around 460. The analog FM simulcast of FD Dispatch on 477.250 has been mostly silent for weeks….at least in my travels.

Today most of the fire dispatches I heard specifically directing units to "use dispatch for fire ground" with a couple calls moved to "Fireground 1" which is new procedure suggesting they will expand operations to more FG talk groups when there are multiple simultaneous calls similar to how Stamford, Bridgeport, Trumbull etc operate. Fire ground 1 appears to be TG 25801. I haven’t heard enough traffic recently to confirm additional FG, TAC or "Channel 2" assignments yet.

The 38 site, as referenced above, is operating on frequencies different from the 3-013 site (aka "Troop G Simulcast") and is also set up with different access policy. It is only currently carrying the Westport TGs and Troop G. Subscribers attempting to join other TGs are being denied today. I’m guessing this is a temporary site designation at the tower on Bayberry Road between Merritt exits 42 and 44 which is an existing town tower but new to the CTMRN family. There was substantial funding approved from the town last year to add this tower location to the state system (to augment town coverage from the existing state towers on Post Road and in Wilton) so I suspect the Bayberry tower will ultimately fold into site 038 when all is said and done. But I could be wrong.

So to recap talk groups so far…..

(Already in DB)
25800 - Fire Dispatch
25801 - Fireground 1
25825 - EMS Dispatch

(Not yet submitted)
25818 - Police Dispatch (Encrypted)

Troop G was 1.21 and that is a Troop G frequency.
If you are using DSDPlus, it shows the old sites in red when they go isolated. In the event log window, try hitting "N" to rebuild the Neighbor List. There is nothing that prompts DSDPlus to check to see if an old site is still active

I could never get the free version of dsd to work either, so I bought it for lifetime and it’s been great
i have the lifetime update also. I just found it hard to configure. I have op25 and sdr trunk. those I have going great. maybe a project for a rainy day since we have had so many this year.
