Anyone else experiencing the SDS100 not holding time settings?
Charging the Battery Pack (SDS100 only) | |
Te SDS100 now comes with a battery pack that can be recharged with the supplied USB cable and ac adapter. You can use external USB power to power the scanner while it is on. However, the USB power source must be rated at 1A or greater to prevent battery drain during operation. The radio will charge and scan at the same time only with an adapter rated at 1000ma or more. The red charging LED will appear to the right of the alert LED during charging and turn green when complete. It takes about 16 hours to fully charge the scanner with the 2000ma ac adapter supplied. Note: If the scanner gets too hot while charging, charging automatically stops. |
I might have missed it, but I don't recall a post specifying the run hours needed to charge the RTC battery on the SDS series scanners.Does anyone have an idea of how long you need to run the scanner in order to charge the capacitor for the clock?
I’ve run mine for six to eight hours straight and if it’s off for more then a few minutes I have to reset the date and time.
Thanks,
Jim
That's definitely not normal, especially if you've run more than one cycle like that.Does anyone have an idea of how long you need to run the scanner in order to charge the capacitor for the clock?

Not with the SDS models. You're the only SDS100 owner reporting a bad clock I've seen so far.
Did the repair notes say they replaced the radio or did a repair after you sent it in for the second time?I have a feeling the radio had more wrong with it than they were letting on. When I sent it back they pretty much turned it right around
They did a MAC/PAC for me, a "repaired" radio. Transferred my NXDN and DMR over, no clock issues
