I put this in the tavern since it's not a well controlled test and it will more than likely go off the rails and get closed anyway.
I've seen reports of the SDS100 taking a much stronger signal to trigger Close Call, I didn't feel like doing a test with signal generators so I did a real world test.
I had a 400 mile road trip yesterday and had both a SDS100 and BCD436HP hooked up to the same RX system (800 MHz Sharkee and Pulse NMO150/450 into a diplexer into a Stridsberg 4-port multicoupler). I had them both searching the same single range (162-174 MHz) with CC DND activated.
On VHF they were hit for hit exactly the same, either one would get the hit milliseconds before the other some times, but they were usually at the same time.
UHF was a different matter. In the city the SDS seemed to refuse to hit on any UHF signal, once I got away from all the UHF TV stations (were I live EVERY channel is used, except 16, 17 and 18) they seemed to match each other, but the SDS still missed a few.
I imagine if I played with the filters (I had invert on) the UHF results might have been different, but I really have no idea. I'd like to see filters by CC band, but I don't know if that is possible or not.
Standing by for all the replies of how my testing was flawed, how I must be getting free scanners from Uniden and whatever else people can think of.
