• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Motorola CM200 that beeps when attempting to transmit. The radio powers up fine and otherwise operates fine. The radio slightly dims when keying up the mic and then beeps 3 times exactly like the CP200 low battery beeps. The radio will immediately stop transmitting but does not power off, just resets and allows the user to try and transmit again.

A new power supply was recently installed on this unit because it operates as a base radio. The previous power supply was destroyed during a power surge.

Does this sound like a programming error or a radio or power supply problem. I plan on trying a different power supply as soon as I can get my hands on one.

Really sounds like a power supply issue, especially with the display dimming.

What power supply is it? Specifically, how much current does it supply? Sounds like it isn't big enough for what you need. Could also be that the voltage is set low. When the radio keys up, it draws enough power to strain the power supply and drop the voltage.

For a 50 watt radio, you really need at minimum a 15 amp power supply. Anything less will behave like you are saying.
