• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

In order to simplify our radio set up here at work, I have attempted to combined out "talk" channel, and our "e-stop" channel on 1 radio. Before the switch, we were on VHF for talk, and UHF for our e-stop. I decided to move the "e-stop" to the vhf frequency. We have several unused frequencies available to use. I have checked this with our frequency coordinator.

Here is what I did.

I copies all of the settings from the "e-stop" personality, and put them on another radio (vhf), I just changed the frequency to one of our unused vhf frequencies. So now there are 2 channels on the radios in the equipment, "Talk" and "e-stop".

I installed a PM400 to replace the CM200 since it was the only VHF radio I have left at the moment. However, when I push the external button on the "e-stop" system, it causes the decoder radio to shut off. I have to pull the power from the radio, and then turn it back on.

Any ideas on what I have done wrong ?

well there is almost zero useful information in your post. Is the button on the radio that shuts off, or on some other radio?

Is everything for the accessories tab copied too?

Perhaps you should consult the vendor who set this up for you. My bet is, there's a dedicated radio for the assumed "emergency stop" feature you are speaking of for a good reason. If you don't know how it works, consult the vendor who set it up. Don't monkey with a life safety system based on advice from a website.

You may be trying to do it the "easy" way or save some money, but if this is for any type of industrial use your lawyer would thank you for hiring a professional.

I wasn't in the office yesterday to be able to see and reply to these messages.

Sorry for the brief description and lack of details. I was trying to not overwhelm the post with unneeded information. I was thinking it was just some difference between the CM200 and PM400 and that none of the other stuff would matter since it hadnt been changed.

I found the issue though. The accessory plug wasnt plugged all the way in. After I got it all the way in, it works just as it should.
Thanks for the replies though.
