• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know of a device that could connect between a Moto CM300 D UHF Mototrbo Simplex radio and retransmit traffic from a AM Band radio.
Looking for a cheaper solution than AVTEC or SMART PTT !

Thanks for any advice.

you want to rebroadcast AM over a channel in the CM300D? Set it up as a link radio.
You will quickly run in to duty-cycle issues w the CM300D, as its not designed for long term key-down situations, but that's not the topic of this post...nor are the legal implications (if any) of what ever you are rebroadcasting.

Feed AM audio from reciever of your choice into the accessory port on the back of the radio, set the channel as VOX and you're good to go. Quick and simple, you will need the appropriate plug (HLN9457_), you provide the AM band radio, some tuning and level matching and you should be well on your way.

Did nearly exactly the same thing with CDMs, XPRs for many years (different bands) w/o too many issues, but YMMV. With the information provided, this is as specific as I can be.

Are you talking about AM broadcast band, AM Citizens Band or AM Aviation band? Please clarify what you are attempting.

You are basically creating a repeater.

There are any number of repeater controllers that might work. NHRC comes to mind.

However they are on COVID lockdown until whenever.

Basically you need to extract a carrier operated switch (COS/COR) from the AM Aviation receiver. That signal will come from the squelch circuit. Then you need to tap the audio from the receiver. The controller will generate a PTT signal and mike audio to feed into the CM300 D.

Setting levels will be the important part to make sure the signal is not distorted.

You will probably have to put the controller and receiver into a shielded box to keep the UHF radio from tearing up the performance of them.

If the air channel you are repeating has a lot of traffic, the CM300D may not tolerate the duty cycle. You should set the time out timer to protect the radio.

Since you have mentioned AVTEC and SMART PTT , I assume someone has proposed something to you which may not meet your budget, but might be more suitable to your needs than the solution I have proposed. I am assuming your requirement isn't critical life safety or has a critical business function.

Will this be a unidirectional repeater?
