Does anyone have a listing of divisions and their corresponding names?
I.e. Division 26 - Westover, etc.

I've been trying to do that myself. Here's what I have so far, hopefully someone else can fill in the holes:

Central - Division 1
Providence - Division 16
Independence - Division 17
Steele Creek - Division 21
South - Division 22
Westover - Division 26
Freedom - Division 27

I'd also like to compile a list of the systems, appears to be divisions grouped geographically, so far I have the following:

System 4 - Hickory Grove, North Tryon & Eastway divisions
System 8 - Westover & Freedom divisions

Tg 11024

Shows to be Division 24 in the database. Never had it loaded in my 396 until today. This is one of these TG's that is listed in the top of the Charmeck TRS as unknown. I was also wondering about the system numbers as well. At times radio traffic will be to switch to a system number rather than than the dispatcher actually giving the name of the division, such as Hickory Grove.

You are correct Newshound. Good detective work.

I will address the use of the word Systems on the radio. This is used in the context of a dispatcher telling a car to switch to System 4. This is only a terminolgy issue. Think of Systems as what we call Banks on a scanner. On the radio panel in the car or the face of a handheld radio you can switch to anyone of (I believe) 16 Systems, or should I say banks as we call them. In each System (Bank) you can dial to up to 16 different talkgroups (TGs). In practice most have less than 16 TGs but you can have up to 16 TGs. Don't hold me to this number but the North Division I recall is on System 7. In System 7 is North Dispatch, North Conference, North SCU, North Tac, Hickory Grove Dispatch, HG Conference, HG SCU, HG Tac, and Air Support. Again the Systems are only banks of talk groups within the entire CM Trunked Radio System.

Thanks for the information. Are the listed divisions all that CMPD has?
Is there a Division 24, or is that information bad?
Thanks

Div 24 is a working name but officially I don't know. I have heard of 23 and 24 referred to as Edward and Frank also. Beside those, there are many other divisions within CMPD. A few examples are Animal Control, HITS, Crime Scene, Vice, Admin, etc. That gives an idea of the others.

My understanding is that Division 13, 14, 23 & 24 were set up for future use. The talkgroups may be used by some CMPD units now, but not on a regular patrol basis. You may sometimes find Vice using the old Frank talkgroups, which I think were incorporated into one of the future divisions.

Some of the current divisions are larger than others, and I think the planning was keeping future population growth in the larger divisions in mind.

Good news--bad news

Bad news from this thread is I believe the CharMeck TRS database here on RR is far from complete. I monitor lots of activity on TG's that show old or inactive.

The good news is that there's still alot to figure out:)
