Got those freqs, thanks. Any idea when these plane arrive ? I'm guessing Friday. I usually try and listen but never heard any airshow planes being directed by atc's. Thursday sounds to early, but I'm wondering if the arrive Friday night as opposed to afternoon/evening.

Also, last year they were landing 6L/R (better view than 24L/R) after doing their thing which offered a better view of the horizon as they lined up to land, only the didn't and were allowed to overfly YYZ and do a few maneuvers before landing. I sure hope they will allow this again. Snowbirds use rwy 5 where way more people hang out, park along Dixie and McD's lot too.

I work at the airport and the aircraft normally start arriving in the afternoon on Thursday, nothing to crazy then. Friday is when the better planes come in. YYZ ATC always let them do a flyby that in the past has been spectacular! They normaly land on 24R or 6R. If I get any other info I will post here. I will also check if I am working those days and maybe can hook up some sort of IM or Text MSG when the planes are 50 miles out

HammerYYZ,

Great info ! I'll keep my fingers crossed for 24 L/R that way I'll get a backyard view ! I'm about 5 miles from touchdown. When I sit outside, the plane I see is next to land unless there is one on short final.

Hemi,

The airshow home page says the Raptor is in only on SATURDAY. May very well be it's first appearance in Canada, but BC has quite an airshow too, and may have already appeared there, but not sure.

EDIT: First appearance outside US. I read half the paragraph. d'oh

116.000 ??? I thought air stuff was 118.0 and above. Does your radio go below 118.0 ?

Yes, the base has Air from 108.0000 to 136.9750 (AM) and 225.0000 to 399.9875(AM)
the handheld doesn't have any dedicated freq's , I just use one of the Service Scanning(AIR,RAIL,MARINE . . . etc.) banks to search through AIR.

You're right !!! I had my 43 in hand at it starts air at 118.0, I just looked at my 46 and it does start at 108-136.975...I totally forgot. And so does the 246, but the Service Search start at 118.0-136.975, so a Custom Search of 108-118 took care of that. Time to re-acquaint myself with some owners manuals !!!

EDIT: Sounds like Fire East tac 2 has their hands full, gonna have to watch pulse24 at noon to "see" what's going on.

Come to think about it , there is not much talk below 118.000 . I can only think about the ILS Localizers and non-verbal stuff between 108 to 117.9875. If you are going to the AirShow (I'm not) , would you see if 116 is in use ?

The last time I went to the airshow was in the mid-80's but it was cancelled due to low ceiling. The past few years I've been hanging out by the airport to see them leave/arrive. Less crowded and I can relax in my car. Don't recall 116.0 popping up, just the usual tower, departure, arrivals freqs and the dedicated airshow freqs, I'll try and keep and eyeball or two on the radio.

Timmy's ??? Tim Hortons ??? You're gonna miss the show cuz of Timmy's ? Team up with a friend or family member and practice calling in sick...to see if you sound believable. "Uuhh...hello boss...(cough)....uuhhmm...I'm not feeling (cough) so good...". You may want to ad lib with some vomiting sounds too !

Check the homepage again, the press releases at the bottom for arrivals of aircrafts. Doesn't say when the F 22/F 117 will be arriving. http://cias.org/

They do use 116.0 as a backup to 123.325... VHF band for voice does start at 118.0, but they do use 116.0 anyway.

Take care
Yup ! Got those freqs locked and loaded.

Just got off the phone with the airshow and the Raptor will be doing a FLYBY on Saturday only and the Nighthawk will be doing a FLYBY on Sat and Sun. They will not be landing at Pearson. She said the F-117 is coming from Virginia. A DVD of the 2006 Airshow will be made available at the end of September, even though it's posted on the web site now...which has to be taken off until then.
