In a newsletter sent out by Congressman Rush Holt (12th District), the Connections section had a few blurbs about grant monies given out to local entities. Sometimes new info comes from unexpected places. Among the grants relevant to us:

1. $120,000 for the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office to modernize its Radio System.

2.$185,000 for North Brunswick Twp. to purchase a closed circuit video surveillance system with remote monitoring capability.

3.$95,000 for the Borough of Jamesburg (Middlesex County) to modernize its communications equipment.

After checking with a source, I'm told that Jamesburg will be buying new Motorola Radius radios to replace units from the 80's, no frequency change. Monmouth County is buying additional equipment to help with the increased load from absorbing dispatch for Freehold Twp.PD.
