Coast Guard B8/TNET 2 and 173.4875 MHz (NAC 293)

Hi all,

About a week ago, I heard a Coast Guard unit on NET 114 tell all other units to switch to "Bravo 8/TNET 2." I searched 162-174 MHz looking for it, and the only other frequency that I heard activity on was 173.4875 MHz (NAC 293), which is a distant P25 repeater. I originally thought this may be the frequency the CG unit was referring to, but it now appears it may be a military frequency from one of the nearby military installations in Ocean County, NJ or the adjacent areas. It comes in too broken up to tell. Anyone have any ideas on both topics?

Any chance they said "D-NET" and not "T-NET"?

It's quite possible, but I'm almost 99.9% sure it was "T." What would "D-NET" be?

DNET-2 is a digital CBP repeater, see CBP Nets - The RadioReference Wiki. I believe that there are various DNET-2 repeaters located in NJ.

Ah, yes. I've heard that repeater used before (there's one on 165.2375 MHz and that that come in very well from my location), but it didn't come up when I was searching 162-174 MHz at all.

If you heard "TNET" could it be something like the "TRANS" repeater here in SoCal used by USCG, CBP, National Guard, etc. for maritime enforcement/border interop activity? Don't know if they have TRANS in other parts of the country, but thought I'd put it out there to chew on. Otherwise I guess it could be DNET like others said.

Have you tried monitoring DNET-2 on 169.4500 MHz P25?

Our USCG assets here in South Florida use NET-1 often.

I had my radio searching 162-174 MHz for about an hour and I don't recall it coming up.

162-174 for the CG VHF LMR
406-420 for the CG UHF LMR
and then of couse the VHF Marine channels
