during this week the US Coast Guard had to respond to Put in Bay for a rescue does anyone know what frequencies they would use

Most likely the USCG VHF LMR. The can be found via Google and this site. They are P25 and sometimes have encryption. The Helos in my local use one of the LMR UHF frequencies.

Could also try the VHF Marine channels 16, 22A, plus withever one is used in your local sector 21A, 23A, 81A, or 83A.

You will need a P25 scanner, but put in all of the VHF/UHF LMR Nets
