We were covering the missing swimmer yesterday in Ranchos Palos Verdes. Was listening to FD on whatever V channel they were on, and Sheriff on SEB 1, but was wondering what Coast Guard would be using on a search like that. Have a lot of USCG in the scanner and never hear anything.

In my area Coast Guard uses P25 with a NAC 293. I see in the Clear and sometimes Encryption will pop up.

Sector LA uses CG 113. It is encrypted most of the time.

For SAR you might try some of the analog freqs.
