By Coatesville Fire DepartmentFebruary 10, 2010 As another storm blew into the area the Coatesville Firefighters were busy doing a lot of behind the scenes work to prepare for this storm.

Members from the West End Fire Company and Washington Hose Company were busy once again putting tire chains on our apparatus. Both station crews had to shovel some snow from sidewalks and put salt down.

The Washington Hose Company Ambulance Division has also been busy running numerous medical emergencies in the city and surrounding communities. Several times the Ems division relied on help from the Fire Department for lifting assistance due to snow banks and various other obstacles from the storm. Each ambulance even carried a snow shovel for the Fire Department personnel to dig a pathway for the Ems Division to carry patients outside of their house to the awaiting ambulance.

During the storm crews ran one auto accident on West Lincoln Highway in the city. Crews arrived to find a Penn Dot salt truck versus an SUV with the driver from one of the vehicles complaining of injuries from the accident. Ambulance 41-1 transported the patient to a local hospital while the Fire Department cleared the scene turning it over to the Coatesville Police Department.
