I have heard from many Hams and the like that say it is a good Idea to
add a loop at the Antenna connector for various reasons. How many of
you use this practice.

Thanks in advance...

What is "a loop" ?
Drip loop? (A drip loop is a u-shaped bend in a piece of co-ax to keep water from entering a building or enclosure. The water just "drips" off the bottom of the loop.)

Good clean practice. It only adds a couple of inches to the run.

I put the loop in as well, but I'm going to do a new install of coax. and when I determine my
length I came to the loop and was wondering if it is even necessary. That was reason for my
OP.

On a transmitting antenna it is a good idea to add about 4 turns of coax in a 3 to 4 inch circle in order to keep RF from feeding back into your radio. Also I have been told that it helps the SWR on verticals like Jpoles.
