Hi all,
I have done my homework so I use Belden 9913 for VHF/UHF work, at an average of .50/ft it's the best bang for the buck. I know, here we go again, I'm opening a big can of worms. BELDEN is the name and 9913 is a proprietary number, anything that's "9913 type" is bogus. Belden has made four slightly different designs with the same number over the years but the best one is air delectric. If it has a spiral wound spacer over the center conductor it's the one you want.
Yeah, some are probably going to post and knock it, some may say it has a problem with moisture getting inside but like any cable, the connectors outdoors MUST be properly waterproofed. Everybody has an opinion so every time I post something about coax I get a whole lot of nonsense back BUT 30 years of experience with antenna installations tells me that "while I'm not always right I'm never wrong" or so my boss said. (;->)
"I bought some good quality RG8/9913 coax cable..."
Now that's exactly what I mean, RG-8U/RG-8A and Belden 9913 don't even begin to resemble each other! That's some manufacturers' crap that's awfully deceptive and designed to sell inferior product. Sorry guy, you got snookered, you bought RG-8A and that's that. It must say BELDEN 9913 on the jacket or it's not the genuine article.
