Today en route to Cartersville... I heard a structure fire call approx 5:30pm on Azalea, cross street Allgood.

Well involved. Residents out and ok.

My first chance to hear firefighters w/ breathing apparatus (face mask) on and using a digital radio.
Weird sounding for sure.

To me analog sounds better in those conditions.

It's very much a mixed blessing - the audio sounds wierd but you don't get the statis like you do on analog systems like DeKalb. They just need to let scanning fools like us design the perfect system. Hey - wait a minute - wasn't conventional radio with a repeater about as good as it gets?

digital radio + fireground= bad idea.

I've heard GCFD sound like there is bells in the helmets. Sometimes they sound like scuba divers.
