Cobra 148 GTL as base unit?

Hi, new to shortwave radio. Can a Cobra 148GTL be used as a base unit? If so, what sort of power supply is best suited for running off the house 120VAC? Having never seen this unit, I am guessing it has black and red wires for use in a 12VDC system but probably no elegant power supply connector, right?

If not, what would be a good, equivalently priced about $150, base unit? Thanks.

yes you can i have done it u need a power supply that is at no less then 12amps here is link to one for like 60 bucks
