To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Dear sirs

I have a 1 year old Cobra 29lx. Thats getting the Antenna Warning. My Stryker A 10 is about 4 years old.

I checked and cleaned of my radios ground.

Checked the guts of my A 10, nothing appears to e burnt or out of place.

Been through the Swr Calibration with the radio settings and a third party swr meter.

Im still getting the Antenna Warning. Although it turns off more with the radio adjustments.

I did buy a 50w dummy load, I just haven't used it yet. Dont really know how

Any tips?

The SWR warnings on the newer 29’s are set too low. Known issue with an easy fix. This assumes your SWR has been checked with an external SWR meter and is below 1.8 (under 1.5 is ideal). Open up the radio and adjust VR6 until just after where the warning goes away. Don't crank it up too far, otherwise the warning wont work accurately when there really is a problem with your antenna.

Here is a video showing where VR6 is. I advise not using a metal key or fuse like this guy did. Use a plastic tip screwdriver.

I did buy off fakebook from a local kid, who got it from his buddy. it does work great buuut, on the occasion that dreaded antenna warning come across the screen! swr was set with astatic pdc1 swr meter and were pretty damn good, below 1.5 on all channels! any info or suggestions greatly appreciated 👍

VR6 might be under the USB board at the back of the radio.
Otherwise you have to enter DUT mode if you have no VR6.

Here’s Cobra’s how-to with pictures.

have you been using the Stryker antenna and the Cobra 29LX for the last year without any problems???? funny it would just start doing that.... do you roll the window / or shut the door on the coax??? if so you can wiggle the coax where you close the door or window on it as you transmit to see if there might be a break with the coax.

Yes, I used that combination for the last year. My antena coaxial does NOT go through the door. No kinks or smashed cable My cable go down the back window, and then up through the floor pan via the water plug.

After I read your post, I crawled under my truck to look for access. I found a little cap in the floor under my back seat that worked out perfectly. It's on my fuel tank side of the truck and away from the exhaust.
