So just thought I'd post an info thread here, anyone else who has any info would be great to hear from.

I checked the website, the flyover appears to be 82 Airborne helo related this year and i just caught some

A2A comms on 50.125FM

where they were discussing landing at KJQF concord.

adsbexchange showed the following:

ADS-B Exchange - tracking 10893 aircraft (adsbexchange.com)

a H60 11-20287.

truly epic is when a C-17 LANDS on the track..!!

that would be worth the price of admission. how long is the track on the straight stretch? the approach/ decent would be something to see for sure, but having seen them fool around at KVUJ, when they want to they can stop in a remarkably short distance. now getting it back out, that is probably going to require disassembly.

I would have never looked there..is that freq published or just got lucky? Nice catch.

i have scanners running search and ones running def "in use locally" freqs i have found active in the past and that is one i came across a year or two back. i believe it has been attributed to H47s operating out of bragg in the database, and i think this is the first time i heard it being used by something other than a H47 too. well i cant say 100% what i am hearing aircraft wise but those H47 turbines are super distinctive sounding over the mikes.

likely a common use freq for some unit or in general to the base, just no one has gotten a shot of a channel card lately as far as i know.

i will say this, i have only logged a total of three 50mhz freqs used around here, whereas 30, 40, and 60mhz freqs all come in at 20+ noted. actually i think i have noted four 70mhzs, so yeah your right, its kind of a fluke no matter how you look at it.

And the flyover, a U.S. Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter from the 82nd Airborne Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), 82nd Airborne Division flies over the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., May 29, 2022. Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division participated in events at NASCAR's Coca Cola 600 race.

When there was a squadron of A-10's at Willow Grove years ago, they regularly used 51.5 which was a common freq us hams used here in SE PA.

interestingly enough, 51.5 is one of the three 50mhz freqs i have logged locally, apparently there are some freqs that seem to either naturally or perhaps by design that always seem to pop up more than one would expect if chosen at random.

there are the rules of thumb you read about when first getting into mil-air like number strings (234.500, 345.600) repeats (252.525) the shooting related (300.6, or my favorite winchester 303.0 which seems like a weird association, but i suppose logical at the time. had i named it, i would have called it Marlin, but whadda i know) and the most frequently demonstrated rule of thumb i have encountered which is whatever they feel like doing whenever they want to. we don't need no stinking badges!

so the only other 50mhz i have logged actually seems like the one, going by the first rules of thumb you would encounter more often, yet i have only had one instance noting it in use:

55.5 FM

and considering it is in a virtually unused white space these days, it would seem far more logical to use 55.5, whereas 50.125 and 51.5 run the risk of stepping on various toes, be more likely to be overheard, and less conducive to unfettered use of fowl language, smack-talk, blatant violation of various policies or planning discussions prior to violating said policies and any other types of fun one might have while getting paid to hottrod around in a multi million dollar aircraft. I know I would.

i guess thats why i am a civilian.
