Does anyone know of a better feed to listen to for the Flagstaff fires?

The feed is missing alot of frequencies which should be active now like CMD & Logistics repeaters. Only thing the feed has is air/air as a good listen and forest main freqs channels 2-6 etc which with this sized incident will not carry the fire ground traffic.

I assure you all logistics are frequencies being used for this fire are programmed. I have have the actual list that has been handed out to all crews. I live directly beneath Mt. Elden, on the other side of the fire, which blocks most line of sight comms being used on this fire. I am working on a better location for the scanner as I write this. I have been covering this fire from a media standpoint, and tomorrow will attempt to feed the stream from a live news truck at the media staging area.

I have all of the frequencies listed here US Forest Service (USFS) - Freq Of Nature in the scanner. I left my Shultz frequency list at EOC yesterday, so I am unable to compare.

Can you provide me with a few that you are actively hearing besides 171.550 and Air frequencies? I also have a US Government list programed that relates to wildfires that I for the life of me cant remember where I got.

Sorry folks, I'm only 4 miles from this fire, so if you send me some freqs, I'll plug them in. I too, would love to hear more ground action.

I'll also add that I have been searching 406.000mhz to 420.000mhz for the past hour with no hits at all.
Also searched 160.000 to174.000 with only a few hits, and those already programed in the scanner.

I am using a BC895XLT with 5KHz step in FM mode. I know they mostly use NFM, but wouldn't I at least be hitting on the active frequencies?

stock telescoping antenna.

Az fires

Chad thanks for all you have done trying to get comms from the fire. Now there is 2 reasons why you may not pick a lot of traffic up.
1) forest service has gone to narrow band which makes it hard to pick the radio systems up unless you are a mile away from the fire. example When I worked at Humboldt lookout on the Tonto I could not pick the guys radios up that were right under my tower.
2) the other way that might help is put the PL's in your scanner for each lookout , i have found out this helps a lot.
3) unless the comms are using a repeater which on a large fire as this they are not using a repeater as a talk around they are using a simplex frequencies which is mostly used as a line of sight.
4) Air frequencies for air runs off of am which can be heard as far away as 100 miles .
now there is a way to do this I did it in my tower. I had the scanner hooked up in the tower with a pc and streamed and man let me you tell you what great comms. A friend of mine did this in NJ also put the scanner and pc up in a fire tower and man what great comms. see if Mt. Elden can do this before the monsoons come in. I see folks in California are now doing this also. Or see if shirly is still up in Baker Butt I am sure she would not mind. Just tell her tom from humboldt said hi! these folks stay at the tower 7 days a week so the equipment you put up there will be safe. All you need then is just a indoor antenna. When I was at humboldt I would pick up NM no problem at all.

Thanks Tom,

Shirley is still at Baker Butte. I just saw her the other day. I will talk to the powers that be and see if I can get a feed up there. Elden would be great, but I dont think it is staffed 24/7. I'll also talk to Punky and see if she can help me out. I have no doubt that I have all the right frequencies plugged in, its just the NFM thing like you mentioned.
