Around 3:20 Monday afternoon Laurel Police Department responded to a Bomb threat at the Super Walmart in Laurel. Hwy 15 N was gridlocked for a litte over an hour as the store was evacuated, It took about two hours for authorities to give a code four the store reopened
Later that afternoon.

Code Black determined a prank

According to Capt. Tyrone Stewart of the Laurel Police Department Criminal Investigative Division, the threat was called in at 3:52 p.m. Stewart said the store had already been evacuated by the time he arrived on the scene.

ÒOnce we investigated, we determined it was a prank call,Ó said Stewart, Òbut the suspect or suspects will be dealt with harshly.Ó

He pointed to a case a few years ago when a threat was called in to the Laurel post office. Stewart worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on that crime, for which a man is now serving time in prison.
