My agency has been using Radio Management for a few months now. We have about 600 radios already read, but need to read several thousand more. Our codeplugs are password protected. So far, the only way I know to read the radio with a password is to manually add the radio into RM with the serial number and password, then schedule a job for an RDP to read it when it's plugged in. I love the auto read feature in RM but it doesn't work for us because of the password.
Is there a way to store a default password on the server so that the radios will auto-read or am I stuck with manually entering the password for each radio one by one?
Here's a tip, import the radios through the .csv file. At that point, all you really need is the serial number of the number of the radio. It keeps you from having to build every radio manually. Also with this many radios, you should have wifi enabled on the radios. This would keep you from manually touching every radio when you need to do programming. All you'd have to do is set the job up and as soon as the RM sees the radio it will read the radio without having to manually touch it. For the amount of radios you have, you are literally saving hundreds of man-hours by having wifi enabled on the radio.
Instead of manually reading every radio, use the .csv method, have the users send you serial numbers. Put the serial number in the spread sheet, fill out the details and then import. If you don't have wifi enabled on the radio or you don't have the entitlement, I'd seriously talk to your employer about getting it. For a couple 2500 radios, the cost is a little over $300,000 for entitlement ID's for wifi but the cost savings in labor and manpower will save much, much more.
