On all of my Uniden scanners, when it gets cold, the screen starts getting blurry/odd looking when scanning and changing displays.

Does anyone else notice this?
Could cold temperatures (like around 30s) damage a scanner?

What temperature do LCD screens freeze at?

Ideally, you should store your LCD in temperatures between 40 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the liquid crystal fluid from freezing. You can still store the TV in colder weather, but there are some rules to follow. An LCD TV should not be stored in temperatures below minus 20 degrees F.Mar 26, 2021

My experience with my vehicle mounted SDS200 in Ct. is on the colder days the scanner’s display seems a bit sluggish if I turn it on before the pickup truck warms up. The temp doesn’t get into the single digits all that much in Ct., maybe a two or three day cold snap, but when I notice it’s really cold outside I leave it off and wait for the pickup to warm up first. I know the solid state scanner will generate heat almost instantaneously when the circuits are energized but out of a preponderance of caution I wait for the display to warm up a bit on those really cold days.

Good deal, the information here is very good... I was just wondering if we were talking about a much older liquid crystal display. They are even more sensitive and tend to fail over time.
