I have noticed recently that the Colden Fire Company has been using some type of crossbanding to the low band Hamburg Fire Control frequency on 46.200. I was wondering if anyone knows about this system?

Colden is dispatched by Hamburg Control on 46.20 - and would respond to them on that frequency. Some departments have a seperate operating frequency, but none is listed for them.

Yes they are dispatched by Hamburg Fire Control but Colden has moved to a UHF frequency that they transmitt on and it is then crossbanded to the 46.200 frequency.

AH, now I understand. I have friends up there. I'll ask if they can search for it. I will post it if found.

New to this. I read a message about Colden linked to the WIVB tower. Actually the WIVB tower has a remote base for 46.20 controlled by Hamburg. There is also a cross linked system from 46.20 to initially a UHF system located at the SAIA tower about 2 miles south of WIVB. I now understand Colden has abandoned the UHF for a VHF system at the same location. I have been also trying to determine the frequency but they are not on the air enough.

I still hear Colden using 454.0875 with a DPL of 306. I have recently installed a low band to vhf hi band link for my own fire company in Hamburg. Where did you read about the VHF link for Colden?

Colden Fire

I, at times have done business with one of the Asst Chiefs. He told me they received grant money targeted for communications. The dept then purchased a new VHF system to replace their older UHF. I saw a portable at about 8' and it had a VHF style antenna on it. I could not read the model because it did not look familiar.
This explains why I could not find it in the VHF spectrum. I was going to start my next hunt in the UHF band.

As far the link to the WIVB tower it is under the callsign WPZJ618 and is controlled from Hamburg Fire via a leased T1 line. There is also a remote base at Patchin St.2 on Cole Rd and is used under the callsign WNKP636, by Hamburg Fire.

I know that Colden uses 454.0875 for a cross band link from 46.20. I know there are a few other frequencies they use for fire ground and such.

If you find out any more please let me know. If you are located in the Hamburg area I can give you the frequency of my cross band repeater for Hamburg Fire.
